Nonprofits
The Community Foundation works with community groups and 501(c)(3) organizations in the following ways:
- Nonprofit Agency Funds: The Community Foundation administers many charitable funds established by nonprofit agencies in the Pioneer Valley in order to provide a more solid financial foundation for their work.
- Competitive Grants: Applications are accepted from 501(c)(3) organizations for projects that meet the specified criteria. In 2006, over $1.5 million was awarded for projects, which served the residents of Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin counties.
- The 5 & Under Initiative: Access to Opportunity for Children in Poverty supports high impact educational programs designed to impact the lives of impoverished children five years and younger by addressing the root causes of poverty.
- Donor Advised and Donor Designated Grants: In 2006 – 2007, $4.4 million was distributed to nonprofit organizations through grants from donor advised and donor designated funds.
- Planned Giving: The Community Foundation will administer planned gifts, which benefit permanent funds at the Foundation supporting nonprofit organizations of the Pioneer Valley.
- Other Resources available at the Community Foundation include a laptop computer and video projector for loan and use of the Richard A. and Marie M. Stebbins Board Room.
